Dasari Narayana Rao, an idealistic director, Producer, ultimate dialogue writer, Lyricist and politician was born on 4th May 1947. He has given many epic movies to the Telugu industry. Movies like Tata Manavadu (1972), Balipeetham (1975), Muddabanti Puvvu(1976), Thoorpu Padamara (1976), Prema mandiram(1981), Bobbili Puli(1982), Justice Chakravarthy (1984) and many more are his bench marks. He has directed 150 movies and they all added more prestige to the Telugu cinema. Identifying his marvellous contributions, he was given the title “Darsaka Ratna”. He also received two National Film Awards, nine Nandi Awards, Raghupathi Venkataiah Award and four Filmfare Awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award. He also acted in many films in many south Indian languages.
He was not just a great director and actor, but also a great person. He was a favourite person for most of the Telugu industry. But on May 30th, 2017, he left the world with Illness at the age of 70. It was a great loss for Telugu Cinemas. From then May 4th is declared as Directors’ day as a tribute to him.
