107 years for India’s first movie RajaHarischandra


India’s first film, Raja Harschandra was released exactly today 107 years ago. It is with this cinema; Indian Film Industry took birth and is one of the biggest and finest film industries in the world today. The recent day cinemas enjoy a lot of technology while film making. And as audience even we get to watch the films in 2D and 3D in Multiplex theatres. Dadasahed Phalke, the director and the producer of the first Indian movie shot this movie with minimal amount of technical facilities.

Raja Harischandra is a silent movie and it was screened for the public at the coronation cinema in Girgaon, Mumbai on May 3, 1913. The great Dadasahed Phalke is considered as the father of Indian Cinema. Also the most prestigious award for the Indian cinema is named after him and is called “Dadasaheb Phalke award”. Legendary ANR is one of rare actors to receive the prestigious award. And the most recent recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke award is Amitabh Bachchan.
